AI policy
Fictionite recognises that writers use tools in many ways. This policy sets out what we allow and what we do not when it comes to artificial intelligence (AI) and fiction on the Service. It sits alongside our Terms of service.
What we allow
- Brainstorming and planning. You may use AI to explore ideas, names, outlines, or “what if” questions—as long as the story you publish is substantially your own work.
- Grammar, spelling, and light editing. You may use AI (or other tools) to catch mistakes and suggest small fixes.
- Cover art for new fictions. AI-generated or AI-assisted cover art is allowed when you publish a new fiction. We understand that commissioning original cover art can be a significant barrier for many authors. You are still responsible for having the rights to use the image and for following our terms and applicable law.
Use editing tools thoughtfully
Grammar and style helpers can flatten voice if you accept every suggestion. Be careful not to let AI smooth out your work so much that it no longer sounds like you. Readers come for your story and cadence; protect that.
What we do not allow
Full AI generation of fiction is not allowed. Do not publish prose that is substantially written by an AI with little or no meaningful human authorship, including long passages pasted from a model with only minor edits. The work you share here should be yours in substance and intent, even if you used tools along the way.
We may update how we interpret and enforce this policy as tools and norms evolve. Repeated or egregious violations may lead to removal of content or restrictions on your account, as described in our terms.
